01) ADDIS ABABA. The album opens with a tribute hymn to the Holy City. Starting from the instrumental composition done on the legendary Lee Perry track (then retaked by Addis Pablo son of the legendary Augustus Pablo) ZebLion delivers a beautiful interpretation, simple and genuine, humble and precious, with beautiful melodies and lyrics, as if he were singing directly from the Holy Mountains of Ethiopia, with the chromatic harmonica taking the listener on higher frequencies creating a bridge with LightAdey’s original style, which embellishes the track flying around Zion singing as an angel in the presence of the Most High.

02) ROCKERS. It’s a tribute to the legendary Rockers movement of the incomparable fathers of reggae who literally gave their lives to leave us this extraordinary legacy. The song comes from the brilliant inspiration of ZebLion who expresses all his talent with a song of fire and flames that leaves no chance to babylon, a mature and inspired performance, a wonderful African chant, on which is hooked that sharp groove like a ‘Stepping Razor’ by LightAdey who, with his distinctive soul, original harmonies, and of course beautiful voice, confirms the power of the Rockers who shake the system from its foundations. This is embellished by RasMarcel who improvises on the dub sounds with his chromatic harmonica, creating a powerful mood reminiscent of the energy that ran into the walls of Jericho. Perfect song to be pumped up in the biggest international Sound Systems sessions. Impossible to sit still without dancing!

03) LIKKLE SAMUEL. Inspired by a reasoning about the Prophet Samuel by the elder Ras Julio, this song under lines some important phases of the story of Samuel (a biblical character) and its importance from both a historical and spiritual point of view, developing its structure like a “mantra” rooted in an harmonic circle (reprising a Lee Scratch Perry’s legendary ‘Black Ark’ production) with ZebLion engaging in a veritable spiritual battle against the forces of evil, belting out sharp, precise and definitive lyrics, with his voice traveling on the spiritual high frequencies that lead to Zion, and finally we find an extraordinary and curious chromatic harmonica by RasMarcel: the improvisation draws the listener’s attention like a siren’s call, retracing all the stages of Samuel’s life with its phrasing, at the same time making the listener take an introspective journey within himself through this harmonica that resounds like a trumpet in Armagiddeon times.

04) AMONGST YE feat. Dave. In this tune we want to convey the power of unity, strength and joy that comes when we let God’s love shine in our lives, a song that carries a message of positivity, peace, unity, and prosperity. The song starts with a beautiful riff created by Judah (Zambia) to which ZebLion applies his vocal talent as only he knows how, imposing himself on the listener with his original and ‘champion’ style, which is followed by Dave with a beautiful rap verse, dry, colorful, clear, and straight to the point, and finally we have RasMarcel who puts some “Salento color” quoting the veterans Sud Sound System crew and his chromatic harmonica to help raise the frequencies of the positive vibes.

LYRICS

05) MABRAK. This song was born during a particularly hard and difficult period for all members of the crew. The whole creation of it, the composition and the realization, becomes at the same time a means through which one can remain steadfast and purify oneself, recalling the sound of thunder (in Amharic “mabrak”) as a “judgment”, becoming an opportunity to refocus on the I reconfirming faith in the Almighty, the fear of the Lord, and renewing one’s spirituality in this Livity. Here are the sounds of nature, the simple and traditional instruments, the drums, and the “do good” in full Nyabinghi style, joining the “calls from the east” of RasMarcel with his harmonica that alternates with the magical voice and harmonies by LightAdey who literally lets himself go into a chant in total freedom and spontaneity, with sweet but also fiery lyrics, burning babylon, elevating this existence with a song of freedom and redemption.

06) I-TAL LIVING. By this term “I-tal” we mean what is “healthy,” “clean,” “positive,” “natural,” etc. Those who follow the Rastafari path are naturally “I-talists,” which is not simply something inherent in mere food, eating: indeed there are vegans, but I&I we go beyond the concept of mere “veganism,” our approach to life is 360° I-tal, so as natural and healthy, positive and vital as possible, and not only in what we eat but also in what we say, in the words we use, in our relationships with others, in what we listen to, in short we talk about a “fullness” that is a totalizing experience of life. Ride natty ride!

07) WISE RAGGA. A classic old-school raggamuffin rhythm deliberately a little rough and seemingly simple. The tempo quickens, embodying a bit of the ‘street style’ where the MCs take turns rhyming and expressing virtuosity by crossing rhymes, words and melodies. Obviously cannot be missed also a quote from the kings of raggamuffin from Salento (S.S.S.) which did the history of ghetto music as a vehicle to fight the system and to transmit positive values. Here, the three singing lions show that despite the limitations that society sometimes imposes, despite perhaps the financial straits we are forced to live with, despite the few instruments available, etc., we still live with a sense of purpose, despite all this we nevertheless live with positivity and joy, thanking the Lord for the wonder of Creation and for all that is given to us, uplifting ourselves thanks to the Rastafari livity, and thus trying to influence the people around us by transmitting positive energy, without however being afraid to denounce the negativity of Babylon that, although it tries to gag and limit us, we overcome all these apparent limitations and reach unthinkable goals because for I&I nothing is impossible. Rasta has no limits.

08) HOSANNA. Starting from a sensational composition by Mr. Toto’ with trumpets that recall the solemnity of the moment, ZebLion expresses all his light and power in a song typical of his style with a “critical” text, with a frank and definitive execution, in a hymn to the Almighty King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah. To this, in a completely natural way, LightAdey fits in with his always direct and clear lyrics, as well as a voice worthy of the “golden era” of reggae, and RasMarcel with a small instrumental meditation at the end thus building an “Hosanna unto Jah Rastafari” spontaneous, curious, original, humble. Psalm 87:7 as well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

LYRICS

09) MAMA AFRICA. It was born from a beautiful inspiration by ZebLion who created a moving hymn of love towards the African continent which is the cradle of world civilization, capable of containing the greatest beauties of this creation, capable of generating proud and courageous peoples, capable of elevating dignity human to the highest possible status, but which at the same time has been and still is a territory of wars, exploitation and suffering. LightAdey joins in this song and addresses Mother Earth with his characteristic style where he manages to express sweetness and poetry but also pride and awareness. The melodies of RasMarcel’s harmonica that accompany the song from beginning to end are like a seed that blooms and slowly grows into a colorful flower on a field that contributes to the beauty of Mama Africa.

10) HIM. This piece was born from a personal inspiration of LightAdey who, meditating on the Personality of His Imperial Majesty, simple and complex, mystical and historical, and on His prophetic, theological and historical role, creates a wonderful song and hymn of praise to His Imperial Majesty. RasMarcel joins in this hymn of praise with a little chant before to jump into mystical melodies produced with his chromatic harmonica. ZebLion literally hold a vibes and a meditation about the power of HIM underlying the zeal and the uncompromising faith of I&I sons and daughters of HIM.

LYRICS

11) VOW OF SEPARATION. Starting from a beautiful meditation by LightAdey on the Nazirine Vow, this song describes the need for separation from Babylon, the need not to mix and pollute with its ugliness, its vanities, its corruption, its negativity, its values, expressing that zeal that I&I have in seeking and following the Righteous Way that, through Livity RastafarI, enables us to stand firm in faith and in our spiritual walk on this world by attaining that spiritual, moral and physical integrity that gives joy and eternal life.
