Starting with a beautiful instrumental composition by Luigi Virdis (The Mobkop Studio), Ras Marcel decided to create a “Showcase” with a bit of a ’90s vibe, collaborating directly with the studio and bringing in several artists considered ideal for this type of project.
The topic of this work is Nature, which fascinates us and makes us fall in love with it every day, which gives us emotions, scents, and colors, surprises us, and allows us to participate in the daily miracle of Creation. In particular, we would also like to recall the speech by His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I on the “fine arts” on July 23, 1958, during the inauguration of the Addis Ababa University Ale School of Fine Art and Design (ASFAD), which also coincided with his 66th birthday: “… A purely materialistic art would be like a tree expected to bear fruit without flowering, sacrificing grace and beauty for mere utility…”.
And so, following the creation of the first track, “Nature Provide,” made together with Ras Modest from Malawi—in which we reflect on this energy present on Earth capable of feeding everyone, drawing on a very mystical moment of free, spontaneous singing performed in the midst of nature by Augustus Pablo and Hugh Mundell—here, one after another, they offer their contributions, each following their own meditation and form of expression:
Ligh Adey – Nigeria
Mighty Son – Uganda
Empress Joana – Malawi
